Friend Making Monday!

My friend Kenz's FMM survey's are one of the highlights of my week! It's late, and almost not Monday anymore but I'm getting to it! I love reading everyone's responses on their blogs and getting to know more people.

1) What is your favorite household chore?  And what is your least favorite?
I like organizing the bills, and I hate unloading the dishwasher-weird huh? I'd rather touch dirty dishes than clean dishes!

2)What is your favorite city?
Hmmm that's a hard one. I love so much about Austin, I miss so much about Salt Lake City, but I'm not sure I've found my favorite city yet.

3) Have you found real love yet?
I found it once for about 6 years (give-or-take), but I've re-found it in a realistic way in the last few years!

4) What's one thing you eat almost everyday?
Yogurt

5) What was your last thought before falling asleep last night?
I should buy a dark colored eye mask. All mine are white and don't do much to block out the light in the study.

6) What's the worst injury you had as a child?
I was a teenager, but still childish. I jumped over the wall and landed on a piece of metal re-bar that was sticking out of the ground. It didn't impale me (thank goodness), but I still have a nasty scar on my neck.

7) Will you/have you worked out today?
No, which is something I intend to blog about soon! Here is my goal that's coming up in a month!

8) Do you tweet? If so, what's your name?
Not terribly often

9) List three things you wouldn't want to live without:
My phone, my family (including dog/boyfriend), and my sense of humor

10) Hold old were you when you had your first kiss?
I was 15, and it was with my boyfriend Sean Vance. It was really messy and sloppy and we sucked at it. He had bad breath and braces and I was terribly disappointed it wasn't like it seems in the movies!

Friend Makin' Monday: A Survey

My cute friend Kenz is hosting this survey on her blog today, and it's such a cute idea! I have found so many bloggers like myself, and it's really fun to learn more about each other. Stop on by her blog if you want to sign up, I look forward to seeing your answers!

1. Why do you blog? I first started blogging a few years ago to have a private journal to get my thoughts out. Now I blog more to keep in touch with friends, make new friends, and to find encouragement online.
2. What is your favorite TV show? I can only have one?? I love Grey's Anatomy, Fringe, The Office, Glee, Lie to Me, Private Practice, Pawn Stars..probably more, my mind has gone blank.
3. What's the first thing you drank this morning? water, followed by a skinny vanilla latte
4. Are you married, single or in a relationship? I'm in a relationship with my boyfriend of 2 1/2 years.
5. List three of your hobbies. Playing the piano & violin, Baking, Alphabetizing
6. What do you like most about yourself? I like the fact that I can find happiness even in the darkest times.
7. List a couple of your favorite sites: Facebook, GoodReads, Blogger, Plurk/Twitter, and a few celebrity gossip sites (my guilty pleasure)
8. What's the last book you read? I'm currently reading Mockingjay, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest, A Game of Thrones, and True Grit.
9. Can you whistle? I can whistle musically pretty well, but I can't do that sporting even shout-out whistle with your fingers/tongue thing. I envy people who can :)
10. List your favorite pro sports teams. I root for the Colts and the 49ers and rain pain down on the Patriots, Cowboys, and Lakers to support my boyfriend.
11. What's the last thing that made you smile? How excited my dog is to see me when I get home.
12. Do you prefer mayo or mustard? Never mustard, sometimes Mayo/Miracle Whip but never on sandwiches I make at home-only take out food.
13. Do you have a crush on someone? Just my boyfriend, he's so handsome!
14. Do you get up early or sleep in? I'm a night owl, but I feel much better about myself and my day when I wake up early.
15. Do you attend church? I haven't attended church regularly for 7+ years, but I go every now and then for family/friend functions.
16. Would you rather see a movie at home or in the theater? I like both, it really depends on my mood too!
17. Was there a teacher or authority figure that ever truly stood out to you? I loved my Honor's English teacher my senior year of high school.
18. What is your favorite game? Apples to Apples, Yahtzee, Uno
19. Cupcake or potato chips? If calories didn't count, I'd choose Sour Cream and Cheddar potato chips.
20. Tell us something random that we wouldn't know to ask. I'm deathly afraid of mimes, ventriloquists, clowns, and forgetting where I parked my car.

Clothes Shopping

...is never a very fun experience for me, but especially so now that I'm overweight. Any of you who struggle with your weight know the stores "we" shop in :)

Just because I'm overweight doesn't make it a good idea to look as shabby as I do every day! I don't own casual clothes really, and the few work clothes I own are pretty worn out now. My sweet boyfriend did some searching online (how adorable is it to see my honey searching women's professional clothing on google!), and we went to see what Nordstrom's had to offer.

I picked up two dress shirts and a blazer (it was a matching pant suit, but they didn't have the pants in the size I needed). I was bummed I couldn't fit my fat ass into the pants, but pleasantly surprised that a pair of pants I haven't worn in 6+ months fit very well. Even though my body isn't where I want it to be, I know I'm making progress. I feel very pretty in my new outfits, and it will really help my self confidence :)

It's only Monday?!?!

It was probably just me, but today has felt like the longest day! It may have something to do with the fact that I couldn't fall asleep last night.

I met my friend Janna at Weight Watchers tonight and was very happy with my WI-down 4 lbs! Although my weight log since I joined has included ups and downs, I'm happy about this down. My stressful long day wasn't an excuse to eat badly, instead it was a reason to eat very well. My boyfriend and I went Jason's Deli before watching a movie and I happily chose a bigger-than-you-head salad bar of healthy choices instead of the in-movie dining experience :)

Indulging in food gives me temporary happiness but long-term disappointment and I'm happy I rose above today! Goodnight folks!

My fulfilling brekfast

For breakfast today I microwaved some egg whites to fix myself a breakfast sandwich. It wasn't as good (aka fatning) as one from McDonalds, but I think it'll grow on me.

The rest of my day was harder food wise. I had expected a busy day so at least I did come prepared with lots of fresh fruit to snack on. Lunch was a pack of 100 cal pretzels.

It was REALLY hard to not go hog-food wild when I got home but I satisfied the pit in my stomach with some turkey sandwich meat and some bell peppers and hummus. Then for dinner we had leftover WW chicken parmigana.

I think I deserve to go to bed early tonight :)

Weigh in day

My crazy week at work was thankfully interrupted by an unexpected day off. I guess the powers that be don't like paying 6 hours of overtime :) This was just what I needed to get organized and back on track!

I went to the 12:15 WW meeting which I've never been to before. It was crazy busy but nice to be there. I was down .4 from last weeks WI and I'll take it. I know I can do better than that, but I'm grateful that it was at least a loss. After the meeting I stopped by the store to get stocked up. I do better when I shop alone, or with a like-minded friend. Whenever I shop with my boyfriend it seems like my list goes way of boxes of soda and 1/4 of the fresh food I'd planned on buying.

Here's some of what I got today and a glimpse at my pantry/fridge.  Dinner tonight is going to be chicken fajitas on whole wheat wraps, I can't wait!  P.S. my boyfriend is the Wheat Thin Fiend, not me :)

Work > Weightloss?

That's not what it's supposed to be, but I didn't make it to my planned WI tonight with my friend Janna tonight. The beginning of a new quarter and new year kept me at work until after 6:00. Even if I can't make a meeting with Janna, I'm going to fit one in this week.

I did pretty good with my food choices today. Waking up early was hard, but I find if I don't "tease" the snooze and just get up, it's not as bad. I scrambled up some egg beaters whites with spinach, tomato and feta cheese for breakfast. Lunch was a frozen meal (boring but quick), some cucumbers with hummus and an apple. Tonight for dinner I grilled some turkey burgers on the George Foreman and had a loaded burger with lots of tasty fixings!

As I prep for the rest of the (busy) week, I know I need to focus hard on not eating emotionally. When I'm stressed/worried I tend to binge.

Thank you for your sweet comments/suggestions, I really look forward to getting to know you through your blogs :)
